Starting this month, I have decided to start a recurring series of articles about my top moments in games. Additionally, I will touch upon some of the top stories of the month that have caught my eye. So, let’s begin!
Games Beaten
- Guardians of the Galaxy (Xbox) – I was not expecting to have as much fun with this game as I did. From story to gameplay, I found this game provides a well-rounded experience. There are moments that set it back, such as repetitive combat, awkward team huddles, and less than superior graphical moments. However, I was undeterred as the story was surprisingly griping with plenty of one-liners that had me laughing hard. Overall, I’d recommend this game to anyone looking for a really good story telling game.
- Aliens: Fireteam Elite (Xbox) – If you’re looking for a straight-forward shooter, I believe this game is for you. With an over-the-should view, you are not as immersed as in Alien: Isolation, letting you play at a faster pace. This game features squad play of up to three players but can be played solo as well. The campaign on standard difficulty provides a well-paced experience allowing you to get through most missions without dying. You are also encouraged to go through the campaign multiple times as you are given different classes and weapons to choose from. I have already gone through it twice and plan to up the difficulty on my next run.
Other Games Played
- Tunic (Xbox) – If the fox protagonist looks like Link from Legend of Zelda, you’re not wrong. The gameplay is reminiscent of Souls games, where getting killed sets you back to your last checkpoint, losing any progress you’ve made. Other elements of Tunic are quite bare, the mechanics are not laid out and are up to the player to slowly figure out as you progress through the game. Despite its simple art style and design, this game is quite difficult. As of this article, I have not beaten it, mostly due to its challenging nature.
